Overview.

School nursing is a specialised practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, and primary healthcare of students and staff within a school community. School nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development, promote health and safety, intervene with actual or potential health problems and provide case management services.

We are a group of nurses who work within the school environment encompassing, Government, Catholic and Independent Schools.

Association Rules

The VSNA became an Assocation incorporated in 2023 at which time under the section 46 of the Associations Incorporated Reform Act 2012, the association rules commenced.

National School Standards

The ANMF is delighted to be able to release the National School Nursing Professional Practice Standards for the benefit of all school nurses and school communities in guiding consistency for competent and safe practice; and, for use in advocating for funding allocation for school nurses in all public and private school settings. This is vital for the health and well-being of current children and young people in Australia, and for building a healthy nation for future generations.

Anaphylaxis Resources

Victoria is the anaphylaxis capital of the world with the highest number of children with anaphylaxis. Schools within Victoria need to comply to the Ministerial Order 706. The Victorian Department of Education policy ensuring schools manage students at risk of anaphylaxis and meet legislative requirements, and to ensure all staff can respond to an anaphylactic reaction.
